Sockeye Brewing Presents “Stampede Gold”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Boise, ID- July 14, 2014. The Snake River Stampede has a long history in South Western Idaho.  It started as a small, local harvest festival showing of crops and stocks, eventually adding in a bucking horse competition in the early 1900′s.  The “buck show” gained popularity and so spectators saw more rodeo style contests added as the years went on.  Today the Stampede is a major Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association sports event where almost every one of the world champions have competed at one time or another. Attendance today can be upwards of 60,000 for the five-day, six-performance event.  This year is the 99th Annual Snake River Stampede and it takes place once again at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa July 15th-19th. There won’t be any local veggies, but if you like the barley and hops that come from Idaho, you’re in luck.  Cowboys, cowgirls and city slickers alike will be able to watch the rodeo stars and all the events at this historic competition with a fresh Idaho brew in hand.  The Snake River Stampede has partnered with local Sockeye Brewery from Boise to bring fans at the Ford Idaho Center fresh and local easy drinking golden ale from the taps of its home turf.  A refreshing change for everyone, a local beer can be purchased in the big event arena thanks to a partnership of two home grown Idaho favorites.

“We are honored and proud to be involved with such a celebrated, iconic Idaho organization,” says Josh King, Sockeye’s Head Brewer.  “The Stampede has been a hometown mainstay for nearly 100 years.  It was a joint venture we fully supported from the beginning, without question.”  Sockeye and the Stampede settled on a popular golden ale brewed with Pilsner malt, German Tradition hops, and a unique yeast strain specific to the Kölsch style.  This beer finishes crisp and slightly dry, serving as a great introduction style for the craft beer novice, still satisfying to the connoisseur.  “As much as our state has supported our Dagger Falls IPA, we also know how many Idahoans still appreciate lighter easy drinking ales.  This is a solid style we know appeals to a lot of beer fans, especially the Stampede spectators and it’s our goal to satisfy them all with a local brew.  We hope everyone enjoys having it pouring as much as we do at the Ford Idaho Center.”

“With the community’s support for nearly 10 decades, together, we’ve been able to build our event into one of the largest premiere rodeos in the nation. More importantly, as a non-profit organization, your support has allowed our volunteer board to invest millions of dollars back into the community.” Jeff Agenbroad, Snake River Stampede Board President says.  Now thanks to the Snake River Stampede, and Idaho brewery will have a fresh beer on tap at the Ford Idaho Center indefinitely.  With a fresh local beer on tap and a long list of community events and sponsorships, this will be a golden year at “the Wildest, Fastest Show on Earth.”
