Wild Wolf Brewing Co. awarded at USBTC

Nellysford, VA – February 13, 2015 – Wild Wolf Brewing Company’s American Stout style ale took top honors at the 2015 Winter United States Beer Tasting Championship as the National Champion in the Stout category. “We are very proud of our American Stout. It is a seasonal beer for us, so we don’t have the luxury of brewing it often, but it is certainly a favorite with our Stout lovers” said owner Mary Wolf. “Once again, we are excited to receive an award from such a prestigious organization as the USBTC, this time receiving a National Champion designation in a category, we couldn’t be more pleased.”

The beer is black in color with caramel and roasted malt on the nose. Silky smooth mouthfeel with notes of chocolate and coffee, finishing with just a touch of roasted astringency and hop bitterness. Brewmaster Danny Wolf stated “American Stout is our original dark house beer. The recipe has remained unchanged since our first batch. It exhibits qualities of a strong stout as well as subtle quality of an American IPA. It truly represents the way we like our stouts!”

About the USBTC

The USBTC is a national beer tasting competition which identifies the best beer in each style from 6 regions across the US. Regional winners are then pitted against each other to decide a ‘Grand Champion.’ This format allows smaller breweries to be recognized and compete against industry giants. The USBTC holds two sessions each year – one in winter and one in summer – judging different, season-appropriate styles in each.
