On July 19th, 2014, Mike Hess Brewing (MHB) is celebrating its 4th anniversary by hosting “Hess Fest”, a collaboration street-party event with 12 guest breweries, a host of local eateries, and two musical performances.
Ticketholders will have access to unlimited beer samples from 12 breweries, as well as MHB, alongside 4 food samples from local restaurants like Slaters 50/50, URBN Pizza, and Crazee Burger. The entire block of Grim Avenue (between University and North Park Way) and adjacent parking lot will be shut down for the entirety of the event. Hess Fest will be sound-tracked by San Diego-based indie bands Sand Dollar and The Routine.
In addition to the unlimited tasting in the general session, VIP ticket holders will also have early-access to the event, specifically to a Collaboration Cask Session with all the participating guest breweries, as well as local homebrew champion Brian Trout, all of whom have joined together with Hess to produce 13 different spins on MHB’s classic Vienna Cream Ale, Grazias.
“This event is a great representation of the San Diego culture, especially in the world of craft beers,” says MHB founder Mike Hess. “To have the opportunity to work with these other great breweries – on whose experience and friendship we relied when we were starting out – after only four years – it’s like a dream come true. And for real-ale lovers, the VIP cask session is going to be one for the record books. We are also stoked to be able to continue our tradition of giving back to the community, which we started back in the day when we were brewing 50 gallons at a time by donating a significant portion of the proceeds to It’s All about the Kids and the Friends of Jefferson charities.”
