Athens, GA- March 31, 2014

Terrapin Beer Co., a regional craft brewery located in Athens, Ga., celebrates its 12th anniversary on Saturday, April 12, 2014, with Carnival Aniversario de Terrapin. This year’s celebration will take place at the brewery and embraces the daring attitude of a carnival – think bright jewels, dancing feathers, spectacular masks, and bold flavors.

Terrapin will be pulling a few rare barrel-aged beers out of their cellar to enjoy and will also feature 10 special casks with a variety of sweet and spicy infusions including coconuts, blueberries, honey, and habanero peppers.
To complement the wide beer selection, Terrapin has invited a few local food favorites to join the celebration. These food vendors include Mellow Mushroom, craft beer lovers since their start in 1974;  Streets Cafe, Athens’ first food truck and a regular sight at Terrapin’s tours; and Trader Joe’s, a specialty retail grocery store. King of Pops, a sweet pop stand conceived by brothers Steven and Nick Carse and inspired by Latin American paletas, will be at the brewery as well and has created a brand new tropical fruit pop especially for the event.

In the way of entertainment, Terrapin’s anniversary celebration features even more Athens gems including Partial Cinema, a band eager to woo the crowd with their Motown vibe and chic sound, and The Modern Pin-Ups, a dance company known for their signature sexy, burlesque style.

Mag-nificent Instant Photo Magnets will be wandering the field and snapping guests’ pictures throughout the evening. Guests will be able to have those photos turned into a Carnival Aniversario souvenir photo magnet on site. Double Dutch Press, a fine art printmaking studio run by Amanda Burk and Katherine McGuire in Athens, has created poster and mask artwork specifically for Terrapin’s anniversary event, and guests will be able to use these designs to print a one-of-a-kind memento to take home. The event will also feature a special Terrapin Carnival glass and a new t-shirt.
In conjunction with Community Connection of Northeast Georgia, a nonprofit organization connecting people to human and health services and volunteers with organizations in need of help, Terrapin will feature specially-crafted activities all day long like the Keg Kick, Lollipop Pull, Keg Toss, and the ever popular Beer Dunk Tank.

Glass vouchers are now available both in person in the brewery gift shop and in the online store for $20, with a portion of proceeds to benefit Community Connection. There are a limited number of vouchers for sale, so it’s recommended to reserve your glass in advance.
