Flat12 Bierwerks to Release PINKO! Russian Imperial Stout, a Craft Beer Industry First: Releasing in 8oz Stubby Cans

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- Indianapolis brewery Flat12 Bierwerks is excited to announce the mid-July release of the limited edition brew, Pinko!. Additionally, the fan favorite, Russian Imperial Stout (10.5% ABV | 86 IBU) is now available in 8oz stubby cans– a craft beer industry first. This epic stout is released only twice a year in limited quantities. Once in mid-July for their annual Christmas In July tapping event and once in November for their Black Friday barrel-aged beer roll.

“We first introduced PINKO! in limited quantities on draught, and then in 4-packs of 12oz bottles. This year, we’re introducing the beer in 6-packs of 8oz cans. When creating this package and design, we wanted to make something as unique and epic as the beer itself,” said Marketing Director, Valerie Green.

Boozy, roasty and pure evil, Pinko! Russian Imperial Stout is nothing to be trifled with. This beer pours black with a tan head and a roasted malt aroma, with hints of chocolate, coffee, and caramel. The rich stout flavor features a slight smokiness and sweet hints of molasses and toffee. Brewed to age. Brewed for barrels. In Soviet Russia, you don’t drink Imperial Stouts, Imperial Stouts drink you.

Fans can find the limited specialty beer in cans around Indianapolis, and it will be available at both Flat12 Taprooms. PINKO! will be available through the end of July and will be followed by the release Flat Jack Pumpkin Ale in August and Lacto-Matic Milk Stout, available in November. Flat12 brews can be found on shelves and on draught throughout Indiana and Louisville, as well as at their Indianapolis brewery and Jeffersonville, Indiana taproom. Flat12’s seasonal releases join the brewery’s four year-round beers – Half Cycle IPA, available in 16oz cans, 12oz bottles, draught – Upside Down Blonde, available in 16oz cans, 12oz bottles, draught  – Walkabout Pale Ale, available in 12oz bottles, draught –  Pogue’s Run Porter, available in 12oz bottles, draught.

Flat12 kicked off their new can line two years ago and currently offer Half Cycle IPA, Upside Down Blonde, and Hinchtown Hammerdown in 4-packs of 16oz cans, Cucumber Kölsch in 6-packs of 12oz cans, and now for an industry first, 8oz 6-packs of PINKO! Russian Imperial Stout.

About Flat12 Bierwerks

Flat12 Bierwerks is a production craft brewery formed in 2010, located in the fast-growing Holy Cross neighborhood— just east of downtown Indianapolis. As a company, we embrace a laid-back, “work hard, play hard” mentality, fostering the creativity of each individual, and that’s no better exemplified than in our brewery. We like to think we strike a good balance between having consistent core and seasonal beers, while continually adding a variety of innovative specialty beers to the lineup. We don’t have a lot of allegiance to traditional styles, we brew what we like— and we like to make “ish-styles.”

Brewmaster, Sean Manahan, and his team brew for the pursuit of creative expression in a pint. There’s a lot of innovation, youth and passion in our brewery. We aren’t just brewing to quench the thirst, we brew to offer an experience. With their combined experience, thirst for innovation, and a passion for brewing, our liquid artists aim to help define the next generation of craft beer. As a team we continue the legacy of our namesake— a classic game-changing racing engine— and move towards a more revved up beer.
