Oktoberfest in East Tennessee
From Gatlinburg’s German heritage to the original settlers in the Tri-Cities, German heritage plays an important role in the Appalachian Mountains. The Kingsport Oktoberfest embraces our German influences by having Oktoberfest, a celebration of German heritage and fun for everyone. We bet you’ve heard about Oktoberfest, but do you know where it comes from? Oktoberfest is a 16-18 day festival held each year in Munich, Germany. The very first Oktoberfest was held the third week of September in 1810 as a celebration of Prince Ludwig’s marriage.
