Cambridge, MA • May 16, 2012- On May 15, Cambridge Brewing Company (CBC) won the title “Best Brewpub in America”, according to a voting bracket hosted by food media company CHOW.
In a month long, reader’s choice style bracket vote CBC beat out brewpubs throughout the country for the coveted title: Southampton Publick House of Southampton, NY in Round 1, Wrecking Bar of Atlanta in the second round, and Revolution Brewing of Chicago in Round 3 before beating North by Northwest of Austin, TX in the final round. “We were really excited to be included in the competition,” says CBC owner Phil Bannatyne, “and super psyched to win! Thanks to everyone who showed their support and voted.”
CHOW selected the top 16 brewpubs in the country based on a specific set of criteria. “To make it onto our list, the brewpubs had to brew their own beer on-site, serve food, and be at the top of their game in their respective cities.”
In addition, earlier this month CBC was awarded a gold medal in the Herb and Spice beer style category at the 2012 World Beer Cup® for its Sgt. Pepper, a farmhouse ale or “saison” flavored with four varieties of peppercorns. The 2012 World Beer Cup® is a global beer competition presented by the Brewers Association. Sgt. Pepper is currently available in bottles at better beer stores throughout the state.
